The Veterans Home of California-Yountville (VHC-Yountville) was founded in 1884 and is located in Napa Valley, CA. They are home to the largest veterans home in the country. VHC-Yountville hosts over 1,000 disabled or aged men and women who have served on various fronts in the military. There are many resources for residents for personal care and support to ensure that the health care needs of the veterans are met.

VHC-Yountville offers many different kinds of activities for the residents regardless of the level of care needed. They have a theater, executive golf course, bowling lanes, and a resident operated television station just to mention a few of the many facilities available to residents.

Lately, VHC-Yountville has been using customized buttons in the last few weeks to highlight the message that their health care workers and residents are vitally instrumental in getting through the health crisis together. They have been able to add a little light to a situation that may feel grim at times. Everyone Loves Buttons® has found that custom buttons have morale-boosting properties. When you are creating or designing your custom button, most business owners don’t think about one crucial detail…how is anyone going to wear or show off their buttons? Most people choose the pin-back style buttons because that might be what they are the most familiar with. There are however, more than just that one way to wear a button or even display a button.

Wearable Button Backing Options

Traditional Pin-Back Button

The standard backing choice is the pin-back button style, which allows you to wear your custom buttons with the clip of a jewelers pin.

A pin-back button can simply be fastened to a shirt, hat, or bag using the jeweler’s safety pin mechanism. Cool fact, the first design for a pin-back button was patented in 1896. Modern buttons are modeled after that patent in very much the same way! Patent holders, Whitehead and Hoag said, “My present invention has reference to improvements in badges for use as lapel pins or buttons, or other like uses, and has for its primary object to provide…a novel means for connecting the ornamental shell or button to the bar or pin for securing the badge to the lapel of the coat.”

While pin-back buttons may not seem like much of an invention, in 1896, zippers hadn’t even been invented! Early campaign buttons had to be sewn onto the lapel or worn as a pendant. So the pin-back button was quite the revolutionary product.

Clothing Magnet

If you’d rather your buttons not poke holes in your clothes, the bar magnet is a great choice! This small, powerful magnet is a fantastic backing option for larger buttons that might stretch clothes if they were attached with a pin. This back is also a great option for places that want to reuse their custom buttons amongst employees, or have a lot of buttons to choose from.

For instance, a fast food restaurant might order their custom buttons with a bar magnet, and just keep them all in a drawer in the main office. Employees can easily swap out the buttons each shift without poking dozens of holes in their uniforms. Our clothing magnets come in two different sizes, a small round magnet and a bar magnet.

Bulldog Clips

Bulldog clip backs look a lot like badge clips. The bulldog clip is attached to the back of the button and can easily be clipped onto a lapel or pocket so you don’t have to push a pin through your shirt. When choosing how your employees or customers are going to wear your buttons you have to figure out how they will be wearing them. If they will constantly be removing and putting the button back on, a bar magnet or bulldog clip fastener is probably a better choice because those won’t poke holes in their clothes. However the downside to those types of backings is, they can be a little more expensive, so if you are designing your custom buttons on a budget the traditional pin-back button style might be a better choice.

Fridge magnets use a flat back metal part or an unpinned back (depending on the size of the magnet button). Bottle Openers

Bottle Openers come in one size currently, the 2.25” round. The backing is a black polypropylene plastic with a metal bottle opener. It also has a magnet to either hang your bottle opener up while it’s not in use or catch the bottle cap when opening the bottle! Rickie Fowler Wore pin to Honor #1 Fan

Each day of the www.pgatour.com Rickie Fowler wore a pin (1.5″ Square Button) honoring one of his biggest fans, Griffin Connell. Connell passed away this January due to a rare airway disorder and he was only 7 years old. Connell braved many surgeries and was an inspiration to many because of his enthusiasm for life. Fowler met Connell in 2013 and they regularly exchanged texts and emails. “He was just a huge fan of the game,” Fowler said. “I claim him as being my No. 1 fan, so he had a special place with me and Joe (Skovron, Fowler’s caddie)”.

“We looked forward to seeing him and the family here at the tournament every year, so it’s unfortunate that we don’t have him here this week because he was fun to see.” The pin Fowler wore in honor of Connell meant a lot to many people and was created www.CustomButtons.com by Everyone Loves Buttons.

Monday, January 29th marked the first day of the Waste Management Phoenix Open. The first two days consisted of practice rounds for the PGA Tour Pros and Wednesday was the Annexus Pro-Am. Many celebrities including singers, actors and athletes showed up to play at the Pro- am. Some favorites included Arizona Cardinals recently retired Head Coach Bruce Arians, six time All Pro Larry Fitzgerald, currently ranked fourth all-time in NFL history in receiving yards per game for a career, and Country Music star Dierks Bentley.

THE 16TH HOLE OF THE WASTE MANAGEMENT OPEN

The 16th hole is the place to be at the Waste Management Phoenix Open. Here you can socialize while you cheer on your favorite PGA pros. However many players feel it has gotten crazy this year. Many PGA pros have become disappointed by the comments from people in the stands.  Even Rickie Fowler didn’t like the atmosphere of the 16th hole. “I was a little disappointed at some of the stuff that was said. I don’t want much negativity — the normal boos for missing a green, that’s fine, but leave the heckling to a minimum and make it fun.” Said Fowler. Fowler was runner-up to Hideki Matsuyama in 2016, and T4 last year.

Although Rickie Fowler didn’t win the tournament, we wish him well and will continue to cheer him on in the future for everything he has done to honor @GriffinConnell

Breast Cancer Awareness Month is right around the corner!

As a nationally certified woman-owned business, Everyone Loves Buttons would like to share some statistics about breast cancer in preparation for Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October.

According to breastcancer.org, about 1 in every 8 (12%) women develop breast cancer at some point throughout their lifetime. It is not limited to women, but it is a much more common occurrence among the female gender. In America, breast cancer ranks second behind only a couple forms of skin cancer as the most commonly diagnosed cancer among women. Aside from lung cancer, breast cancer death rates are higher than any other cancer among women in the United States.

Needless to say, breast cancer is a big deal in the U.S. and across the world. The problem is that most people aren’t educated enough on the matter, which prevents those individuals from detecting the disease early on causing the cancer to spread prior to diagnosis. This is why October is so important in terms of spreading the word about breast cancer.

In today’s day and age, it is much easier to spread awareness with the likes of the Internet and more specifically social media.   1. Fast-Track Production Guarantees Your Production Time:

If you need your buttons in a rush, we can help you out using our Fast-Track service, where you can get your buttons as quick as tomorrow (if needed). By using our Fast-Track service this guarantees that your buttons will be produced from the same, 1, 2, 3, or 4 days. (If you’re not in any rush our standard production time is 5 business days).

Also don’t forget to take into account shipping tome and possibly needing expedited shipping to meet your in-hands date even with the Fast-Track production service.

  1. Drop Shipping

Do you need your buttons shipped to different locations? No problem! We can save you the time and the hassle of getting your buttons to different locations yourself by drop shipping to each of your locations. Just tell us how many go to each location and we can take it from there (a small fee does apply).

  1. Blind Shipping

If you are reselling the buttons and want your customer to receive them, we can ship the buttons to your customer, completely blind so they think that you produced and shipped the buttons at no additional charge, just let us know when you place to order.

  1. Pickup

If you are a local customer in Phoenix, AZ or you are in town for your event, feel free to swing by and pick up your buttons. This way you can save on shipping. All you have to do is let us know when you would like to pick them up and we will give you a call when they’re ready.

  1. Bagging

If you need your buttons bagged in certain quantities we can definitely help you out. No quantity is too small for bagging your buttons. Custom bagging is typically $10.75 per thousand buttons if it’s just a single version. If you have multiple versions being bagged together the price is $12.75 per thousand buttons.

  1. Assembly Only

If you’re a print company looking to save a few bucks, or have a Pantone color only you can print, we offer assembly only discounts if you provide the printed graphics.

  1. Custom Button Packs

If you want your buttons in a custom pack or on a card, we offer button packs in any configuration and size you can imagine. We will print a full color back card and attached the quantity of buttons you want. We will then bag the button pack and seal it for shipping. Call us for a custom packaging quote.

4 Design Tips for Your Buttons

When it comes to designing your button, it may seem pretty straightforward – you send us the artwork you want and we print it for production. Wrong. It is actually more complicated that that. Luckily our in house art department has provided us with a few tips for when it comes to your button design.

  1. Less is More

Graphics that have a ton of information or pictures are often distracting. When it comes to your design it is best to use the less is more rule. Think like the great brands can be instantly recognized by logos or slogans, like Nike, Adidas, Coca Cola, etc. They practice the less is more, with eye catching colors, and minimal designs.

  1. Let Your Design Breathe

While creating your button occurs in a 2-D space, your buttons are not. On paper it may look great to have the design going right up to the edge while looking at the image flat, buttons aren’t a completely flat surface. Especially when it comes to text, it’s best to have it closer to your design that the edge. It does give you a slightly smaller space to work with, but when the graphics wrap around the button your text will be legible.

  1. Avoid Button Borders

Our graphics are cut by a person, which means that they sometimes have bad cuts and are not perfect 100% of the time. When cutting a slight shift can occur and graphics with a border can appear off center no matter how small the shift. Borders to look great on other printed graphics, but can cause some troubles when producing your buttons. Our button makers are diligent with going through their graphics to ensure only the perfect cuts are being made, but sometimes a shifted graphic can slip through the cracks.

  1. Make Sure to Add Bleed

When it comes to your artwork, adding bleed will make the button look seamless. With artwork that doesn’t have a bleed (like the graphics with borders) it is definitely noticeable with shifting cuts. Our templates have lines that show when your button face will end and where the bleed will extend out.
