October is known for many things: cooling temperatures, the leaves changing colors, and of course Halloween! But did you know it is also National Women’s Small Business Month?

 

Everyone Loves Buttons® has been proudly women-owned since it’s founding in 1997, and has been officially certified by the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) since 2008. What does this certification mean? Women both own 51% of our company, and are in charge of our daily operations.

 

 

The WBENC also provides unique workshops and resources for entrepreneurs to help them succeed. With their help, thousands of women have both found success as business owners and have been able to create job opportunities for their communities through their businesses.

 

In a recent blog post, the WBENC shared some inspiring statistics about women-owned businesses. According to their sources, 4 out of 10 businesses are owned by women, and over 1,800 new women-owned businesses opened each day within the past year. How incredible is that!

At CustomButtons.com Legendary Service is our motto, what does it really mean?  Today I got a call today from a prospective client who wanted to get sample custom buttons mailed to him for a client. During this phone call this gentleman mentioned that he had contacted several button companies and none of them seemed that excited to mail him a freebie.  He thanked our company for the way we answered the phone, engaging with him from the start. I’ve always instructed office staff to sound energetic and positive since we want all callers to have positive experience.  I will certainly be getting that sample out in tomorrow’s mail and I have to say that we probably have a much better shot at earning this customers business than our competitor’s who should probably practice working on their phone etiquette.

It is a non-profit organization that provides a world-class standard of certification to women-owned businesses throughout the country. The WBENC mission is to fuel economic growth globally through access to opportunities, by identifying, certifying, and facilitating development of women-owned businesses. Their CORE platforms are Certification, Opportunities, Resources, and Engagement.

A WBENC certification standard is the most relied upon certification of women-owned businesses. With a certification a women-owed business is recognized by the public, private, non-profit, and government entities. It is the cornerstone of WBENCs value proposition.

When it comes to opportunities, WBENC is committed to connecting both corporate and government members and women’s business enterprises in the most effective ways. There are certain criteria that need to be met for certification such as: the applicant company must be at least 51% owned and controlled by one or more women who are U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents; and management and daily operation is controlled by one or more of the women owners.
