THe NFL Experience offers a pro football’s interactive theme park, youth football clinics, merchandise from the NFL Shop, and free autograph sessions from NFL players. There is also the Super Bowl Opening Night fueled by Gatorade. Fans had the opportunity to purchase tickets to see the Super Bowl teams in public before the big game. This allows fans to be apart of a live show covered by media around the world, see past Super Bowl MVPs, watch live television broadcasts being filmed, enjoy exciting entertainment features between team appearances, and the fans will also receive a free gift bag and radio to listen to the interviews being held. Currently there are 12 teams to begin the playoffs: the Pittsburg Steelers, the Cincinnati Bengals, the Kansas City Chiefs, the Houston Texans, the Denver Broncos, the New England Patriots, the Carolina Panthers, the Arizona Cardinals, the Seattle Seahawks, the Minnesota Vikings, the Green Bay Packers, and finally the Washington Redskins. Each team had their own struggles throughout the season from hurt players to upsetting losses, however they all had great seasons that led them to their standings now. As a company from Arizona, we are eager to see how the next few weeks pan out for our favorite team and customer the Arizona Cardinals. The Cardinals will either face the Green Bay Packers or the Washington Redskins after their matchup on January 10th for the 1st round of playoffs. As always, we here at Everyone Loves Buttons are here for all your button needs. Buttons make a great party favor for all the viewing parties and can range from 7/8″ to 6″ buttons. Merry Christmas: A Recipe to Celebrate

Santa Claus is coming to town and we are in the Christmas spirit! For all of you who are on the Nice List (Okay and for those who were on the Naughty List, no judgment.), we wanted to share one of our family recipes. This recipe is called Little Gems and is a short bread cookie filled with raspberry jam. We think they are cute as a button (pun intended). Little Gems:
  • 3 Cup Flour
  • 3 Sticks Butter
  • 1 Packet of Dr. Oekter Vanilla Sugar (you can substitute 1-2 tsp Vanilla extract)
  • 2 Egg Yolks
  • 1/8 tsp salt (just a pinch)
  • 1 Cup Sugar
  • Jar of Raspberry Seedless Jam (feel free to try other jam flavors)
First make the cookie dough and let it rest in the fridge for at least 30 min – 1 hour. Preheat the oven to 325-350 degrees. When dough has cooled, roll into small balls. Using a handle of a wooden spoon or your thumb, make an imprint in the middle of each cookie. Finally spoon in the raspberry jam into the middle imprint. Place in oven and cook until the edges are slightly golden brown. Let cool and enjoy! To keep the cookies soft, store them in an airtight container. From all of us here at Everyone Loves Buttons, Merry Christmas!

What’s Hot? Summer Buttons!

It’s finally summertime! The kids are out of school, temperatures are rising, and things are very busy here at Everyone Loves Buttons. We are located in Phoenix, AZ and our summers here get more than a little hot. We experience frequent temperatures well above 110 degrees. Some days it feels like you’re going to melt when you step outside. Thank goodness for air conditioning and indoor events during the summer months! From trade shows to festivals, there are ways to stay cool for the summer months, not just in Arizona but also across the U.S. The buttons we make this time of year generally reflect our clients’ summer activities. We recently made promotional buttons for the upcoming Port Ludlow Festival by the Bay in Seattle, WA as well as First Fridays, which celebrate the arts in Tulsa, OK. There are also a variety of summer competitions, which include dance, rodeos and tractor pulls. We also fulfill orders for summer trade shows, conferences and award shows. It’s fun to see the different buttons for awareness walks. We recently did a button for the upcoming annual AIDS WALK in San Francisco, which is a 6.2-mile walk to support raising money for people in need of HIV/AIDS services. Buttons are a great retail addition that can help drive summertime restaurant or car sales. New menu items may be advertised or a ‘beat the heat’ sale may be offered. Our summertime July special is on 3.5″ or 4″ round buttons. Any purchase will include a next quantity pricebreak. This means that if you order 50 buttons you get them for the per piece price of 100 buttons. We hope you will take advantage of our July special. Whether you are stay-cationing or vacationing this summer, check out all the fun events, sales, and, of course, BUTTONS! Stay safe and have a blast this summer.

Customer Spotlight SuZn Totes, Bags & Zipper Pulls

Customer Spotlight SuZn Totes and Bags

One of our customers sent some great pictures of how they use our zipper pulls. Their company is SuznBags which specializes in handcrafted, custom tote bags. They have both stock tote designs for sale or even custom bags available.

The bags are made of one or two coordinating fabrics on the outside, consisting of 100% cotton as well as rayon and polyester. This year the owner started using Vinyl on the bottom of the bag since it can be easily wiped clean. The lining is cotton duck cloth.

There are both open and closed tote bags available, perfect for grocery shopping, etc. and some of these even have a top-mounted closure flap. Zippered tote bags can offer extra security.

So if you are in the market for something with more of a handmade look, consider looking at SuZn Bags.

It’s Cinco de Mayo May 5th a Festive time to Celebrate!

It’s May 5th Cinco de Mayo

On Cinco de Mayo, most Americans think of margaritas, Mexican food, and mariachi bands, but what is Cinco de Mayo actually about? Surprisingly it is a misconception that Cinco de Mayo is Mexican Independence Day, when in all actuality it is to celebrate the Mexican victory over France at the Battle of Puebla in 1862. Great Britain, Spain, and France had invaded Mexico in late 1861, but Spain and Great Britain pulled out within six months. France decided to take advantage of the chaos happening north of the Mexican border where the U.S. Civil War was taking place. The battle was a classic David-over-Goliath victory for the small town of Puebla against Archduke Ferdinand Maximilian of Napoleon’s French forces. Though Americans in the western states have been celebrating Cinco de Mayo practically since the battle ended, it was largely an unknown celebration in most parts of the U.S. until the 1960s. This is when Mexican-American activists started raising its profile by celebrating it and their pride in the community. Today it happens to be the biggest non-winter drinking day of the year, and it’s in the top five drinking holidays in general. Traditionally, Cinco de Mayo celebrations include parades, mariachi music performances, and street festivals in cities and towns across Mexico and the United States. So for this Cinco de Mayo, enjoy some authentic Mexican food like mole poblano, and celebrate this holiday full of culture and heritage. If you plan to enjoy the holiday at a restaurant, keep an eye out for buttons that the servers often wear to celebrate this festive holiday.

Buttons and Saint Patrick’s Day Go Together

Saint Patrick’s Day and Custom Buttons oh how they Go Together.

Saint Patrick’s Day is celebrated on March 17, every year, with traditional Irish food and the color green. It is considered the saint’s religious feast day and the anniversary of Saint Patrick’s death in the fifth century. The Irish and Ireland have celebrated on March 17th for over 1000 years. It is believed that Saint Patrick lived during the fifth century and is known as the patron saint of Ireland. He was born in Roman Britain, where he was kidnapped and sold into slavery where he was brought to Ireland at the age of 16. He then escaped slavery, but returned to Ireland where he was credited with bringing Christianity to the Irish people. In modern-day Ireland, St. Patrick’s Day was traditionally a religious occasion. Until the 1970’s, there were laws mandating that the pubs had to be closed on March 17th. In 1995, the government saw the opportunity to use St. Patrick’s Day as a way to drive tourism and showcase the Irish culture. Approximately 1 million people annually take part in St. Patrick’s Day celebrations in Dublin. These celebrations feature parades, concerts, outdoor theater productions, and firework shows. The celebration of St. Patrick’s Day in America began in the mid-19th century when most Irish immigrants in America were apart of the Protestant middle class. Close to a million poor Irish immigrants began to flood into America to escape starvation during the Great Potato Famine during 1845. When celebrating their heritage during St. Patrick’s Day, the media portrayed them in cartoons as drunk, violent monkeys. Despite the hatred from the American Protestant community, the Irish people realized their power in politics because of their rapidly growing numbers. Their voting block became known as the green machine, which became an important swing vote for political hopefuls. St. Patrick’s Day event were now a must-attend for political candidates. President Harry S. Truman attended a St. Patrick’s Day parade in 1948, which was a proud moment for the many Irish Americans whose ancestors had to fight stereotypes and racial prejudice to find acceptance in the New World. In the Everyone Loves Buttons shop we have a few clients gearing up for this coming St. Patrick’s Day with customized pinback buttons: Fox’s Restaurant – Oak Lawn, Fox’s Restaurant Orland Park, and Hennessy’s Tavern Redondo Beach. Some of the celebrations include a St. Patrick’s Week Special from Fox’s Restaurant & Pub Oak Lawn with Irish Step Dancers, the Funny Little People, and Face Painters.
