One-piece Vs. Two-piece
While both one-piece and two-piece buttons will help you share a message with others, there is a significant difference in overall quality. In a one-piece button the graphic is clamped directly to the backing of the button. This leaves your design vulnerable to many outside factors. Moisture, dirt, or even the pin itself can quickly ruin your design. In fact, closing the button and accidentally damaging the front is a notorious issue for one-piece buttons.
The big difference? An internal metal shell that solves all these issues. The clamping process wraps mylar and the graphic around the shell’s edge before clamping it to the backing. This completely seals the graphic from anything that can cause damage. The shell forms a solid wall between the pin opening and the graphic, preventing dirt and water from seeping into the graphic. In addition, the metal shell prevents the pin from scratching the image, ensuring your designs are fully protected and will last longer than just a few hours.
Are There Any Benefits for One-piece Buttons?
One-piece buttons are less expensive because they do not have the internal shell like two-piece buttons. However, what you save in money you will end up paying for in quality.
