Last Year's Avon Walk in San Francisco kicked off with a moving reminder of the impact of breast cancer as Martha Elder Domont a woman from San Anselmo shared her story. She lost a sister to breast cancer in 2000 and was diagnosed with breast cancer herself just last year. Despite undergoing chemotherapy, a double mastectomy, radiation and having her thyroid removed since her diagnosis, Domont participated in both the 2006 Avon Walk Chicago and the Avon Walk San Francisco.
I think you will agree Martha Domont and her story is what the Avon Walk is all about. In San Francisco last year over 2,300 particpants raised more than $5.4 million for access to care and finding a cure for breast cancer.
